Eastern Market (Plumbing)
Magnolia Plumbing works on historic project
Magnolia Plumbing recently completed the plumbing work for the historic Eastern Market on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. The market, built in 1873 suffered major damage during an April 2007 fire that gutted most of the South Hall of the Victorian-era food and vendor market. Eastern Market re-opened June 26, 2009.
Magnolia Plumbing was responsible for the projects' plumbing package. The base building scope of work included the installation of all new domestic water, sewer and gas piping; a duplex sewage ejector system; construction of several public bathrooms as well as backflow protection for the building. Grease abatement units and new hot water heaters were added for the South Hall vendors.
Most importantly to Magnolia, this project was completed on time and on budget. "The credit for the success of this job is owed entirely to our field personnel. They worked tirelessly, putting in days, nights, and weekends to see that the ever evolving project and schedule were maintained," said Brian Schwartz, Magnolia Plumbing Project Manager.
Quinn Evans Architects was the architect. Forney Enterprises, Inc. (FEI) served as general contractor.
